Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - Gas customers of the energy supplier Mainova do not have to accept any higher down payments in the tariff for the basic natural gas supply for the time being after the controversial gas levy has been abolished. Although the increases were announced to customers in mid-August with a letter effective October 1, politicians then decided to first reduce VAT and then to withdraw the gas levy. Therefore, the announced increase in the discounts, which had not yet been implemented. Customers do not need to become active themselves, the elimination of the surcharge will be taken into account in all tariffs. Customers would be informed about this, among other things, via the company website and social media channels, customer service and a public announcement.
In principle, one assumes that prices will remain high, said a company spokeswoman. When it comes to invoicing, the company implements the applicable legal requirements with regard to taxes, levies and allocations. The proposed waiver of the December installment payment will also be implemented as soon as a corresponding political decision has been made and all parameters are known, but this has not been the case so far.
The Darmstadt-based supplier Entega also stated that the gas prices for customers would automatically be reduced by the costs of the originally planned gas procurement levy. In concrete terms, this means that the energy price will be reduced by 2.419 cents per kilowatt hour as of November 1st - this corresponds to the amount of the originally announced gas levy. The fee has not yet been collected. "The company will not send a new price adjustment letter to individual customers," it said. Customers will also be informed immediately about the relief proposed at the beginning of the week as soon as these are specified.
