Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - As of today, a 35-year-old man is before the Frankfurt Regional Court on charges of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. According to the indictment, the crime happened in October 2021 on a regional train towards Heidelberg. Shortly after boarding the train in Frankfurt, the accused is said to have stabbed the previously completely unknown passenger (26) several times in the neck and arm from behind, injuring him severely. The public prosecutor's office assumes the murder characteristic of insidiousness.

The trial, which is initially scheduled to run until the end of September, also deals with a possible placement of the man in a psychiatric facility. The trial was originally supposed to start this Monday, but one judge was ill.
