Hesse: Police checked almost 330 vehicles on control days

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - During a large-scale inspection, the police in Hesse checked more than 340 people and almost 330 vehicles over three days. The officials were primarily targeting suspected gangs of thieves operating across Europe, as reported by the Hessian State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Wiesbaden on Friday. According to this, three suspects were arrested during Operation "Trivium" and drugs and stolen goods were seized.

In Limburg, for example, the police found a man with a bundle of counterfeit banknotes. In an industrial area in Gelnhausen, they discovered devices in a van that can be used to steal petrol from tanks. In Wiesbaden they caught a driver who was driving without a license.

In Germany, a total of ten federal states and federal police officers took part in the Europe-wide control days this year.
