Hesse: Police discovered two larger cannabis plantations

Kassel/Fuldabrück (dpa/lhe) - The police have dug up two larger cannabis plantations in northern Hesse. Several buildings in Fuldabrück and Lohfelden in the Kassel district and in Großalmerode in the Werra-Meißner district were already searched on Wednesday, the police and public prosecutor in Kassel said on Friday. The investigators discovered the professionally operated plantations, 13 kilograms of marijuana and many plants and accessories in two buildings. A large number of cutting, impact and firearms, including a machine gun, were also seized.

A 35-year-old suspect was arrested and is now in custody. Residents had given evidence of the man's activities in a vacant family home in Lohfelden. Finally, the investigators were able to assign him a warehouse in Großalmerode and other objects. The man is accused of illegally producing cannabis in large quantities and violating the Weapons Act. According to the information, there is also a violation of the War Weapons Control Act because of the machine gun.
