Hesse: Process against Awo manager postponed

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Due to the necessary follow-up investigations by the public prosecutor's office, the trial against a manager of the Frankfurt Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo) was initially postponed on Monday. The files were returned to the prosecution after the statement by the accused brought new insights, the court said on Monday.

The 40-year-old deputy managing director had been sentenced to a fine of 9,000 euros (120 daily rates) for aiding and abetting embezzlement, but had lodged an appeal. Although she earned an annual gross income of more than 120,000 euros from her regular job, according to the indictment, the employee was given two mini-jobs, for which she is said to have received around 23,500 euros over a period of several years without consideration.

The sham employment was therefore initiated by the management of Awo. It has not yet been announced when negotiations will be held again.
