Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - In the trial of the poison attack at the Technical University of Darmstadt, a plea will probably be given this Tuesday (9:00 a.m.) in the Darmstadt district court and the verdict may also be announced. The accused, a former student from Mainz who, according to doctors, has paranoid schizophrenia, confessed on the last day of the trial.
The 33-year-old German admitted to putting a mixture of laboratory chemicals in milk, honey and water tanks of coffee machines on August 23, 2021. She denied the charge of attempted murder. She wanted to "teach a lesson" to the TU members she felt persecuted by. Seven members of the TU swallowed the chemicals while drinking tea and coffee, and one scientist's life was temporarily in danger.
