Hesse: process of serious bodily harm: victim nursing case

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - A punch with serious consequences for the victim has been the focus of a trial at the Frankfurt district court since Monday. A 50-year-old man is accused of hitting a nine-year-old opponent in the face on the Zeil shopping street in August 2021 with such force that he lost his balance and hit his head on the curb. The 59-year-old suffered life-threatening head injuries and brain damage and has been in need of long-term care ever since.

The punch was apparently preceded by an argument between the drunk men and a shove. The accused admitted in court that he was at the scene of the crime. However, he did not set the blow - for large parts of the morning he lacked the memory.

The argument took place shortly before noon in front of numerous passers-by in the heavily frequented pedestrian zone. However, because several of them did not comply with their summons, the court had to schedule another hearing in early September.
