Hesse: Property tax return: No extension of the deadline in Hesse

Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Hesse does not want to extend the deadline for submitting the property tax return. Around three quarters of the declarations were received, said Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg (CDU) on Tuesday at the end of the submission period in Wiesbaden. "Given the good response rate in Hesse, there is no need to extend the deadline." Boddenberg warned everyone who has not yet submitted to do so soon. He announced a "personal reminder letter" from the tax administration after Easter.

Bayern extended the deadline by three months on Tuesday. Originally, the new property tax returns should have been submitted by the end of October 2022. This deadline was then extended throughout Germany up to and including Tuesday (January 31).

"The submission is still possible and necessary even after the deadline," emphasized Boddenberg. The feedback of the past few days suggested that many people were there and would finish the explanations in the coming days and weeks. "Anyone who should not submit after the reminder letter has to expect that the tax authorities will appreciate the information," announced Boddenberg. "Nobody should let that happen."
