Hesse: R V insurance: High storm damage, more income

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - In the first six months of this year, RV insurance has already recorded 200 million euros in damage caused by storms. The insurance company announced on Wednesday in Wiesbaden that it is still at a high level in this area. In particular, the winter storms Ylenia, Zeynep and Antonia contributed to the amount of damage. "Unfortunately, the trend, particularly regional extreme storms with heavy rain, storms and hail, which we have been observing for several years, is continuing this year," said RV CEO Norbert Rollinger.

Despite the difficult framework conditions, the premium income increased moderately in the first half of the year, the group announced. In the German primary insurance business, premiums increased by 2.8 percent to almost 9.4 billion euros. The economic environment has deteriorated significantly compared to the previous year: "For the year as a whole, we are assuming moderate growth at the level of the industry," said R V boss Rollinger.

In the first six months of 2021, storms only caused damage of 78 million euros to R V policyholders. In 2021 as a whole, however, these then added up to a record value of more than one billion euros, mainly due to the flood disaster on the Ahr in July. The R V-Versicherung belongs to the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken.
