Hesse: Runoff election for district administrator posts in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district

Marburg (dpa/lhe) - The successor to District Administrator Kirsten Fründt (SPD), who died earlier this year, will be determined this Sunday in a runoff election. The first district councilor Marian Zachow (CDU) and the SPD candidate Jens Womelsdorf are still in the race for the chief post in the district office in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. In the first ballot two weeks ago, Zachow got 38.3 percent of the votes, Womelsdorf 30.8 percent. The other five applicants were eliminated. Fründt died in January at the age of 54 as a result of cancer. The social democrat was elected district administrator of Marburg-Biedenkopf in 2013.
