Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - The Darmstadt-based energy supplier and telecommunications service provider Entega has largely done stable business in 2021 despite rising energy costs and the corona pandemic. Sales increased slightly to 2.06 billion euros (2020: 1.84 billion euros), as the group announced on Wednesday in Darmstadt. The surplus remained largely stable at EUR 28.1 million (2020: EUR 27.7 million). The company was able to gain 41,500 new customers last year. Under the impact of the pandemic, the year also stood for ever-increasing prices on the energy markets.
With a view to the current year, CEO Marie-Luise Wolff said: "The Russian invasion of Ukraine has resulted in further turbulence on the global energy markets." However, this also underlines that it was the wrong way to become dependent on fossil raw materials, especially from Russia. The energy transition must be accelerated with all our might.
The IT service provider Count and Care, which belongs to the group, was recently the victim of a hacker attack. In addition to Entega, the IT systems of the Frankfurt Waste Management and Service Group (FES) as well as the Darmstadt transport company Heag and the Mainzer Stadtwerke including local transport companies were also affected. According to an Entega spokesman on Wednesday, most of the damage has now been repaired.
