Hesse: State government presents amendment to staff council law

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The Hessian state government wants to improve the participation rights of public sector employees via the staff representatives. Among other things, the minimum age for the right to vote for youth and trainee representatives is to be abolished, as Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) said on the presentation of a revised staff representation law on Tuesday in the state parliament in Wiesbaden. In addition, the possibilities of digital communication between the office, staff council and employees are to be expanded.

"Hessen already has a proven and constitutional law on employee representation," explained Beuth. "This has now been restructured in dialogue with the trade unions and in some places adapted and updated to reflect current developments in public service and technical progress." The next staff council elections are scheduled for May 2024.
