Hesse: State Sports Association: Energy crisis more threatening than Corona crisis

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - In the course of the energy crisis, the State Sports Association of Hesse (lsb h) is calling on the state government to develop aid programs for sports clubs in need as quickly as possible. Financial relief is absolutely necessary in the short term, it said in a statement on Friday. The executive committee of the lsb h unanimously decided on a position paper on the energy crisis in sport with this demand on Thursday.

"By the beginning of next year at the latest, our clubs must be able to access financial aid from the state," says lsb h President Juliane Kuhlmann. "Otherwise there is a risk that many clubs will no longer be able to pay their deductions for electricity and gas."

The state supported organized sport during the Corona crisis in an exemplary manner, but without further help, many clubs would soon no longer be able to cope with the additional financial burden. "The energy crisis is more threatening for organized sport than the Corona crisis. Clubs with their own facilities in particular fear the end," emphasized the Hessian sports director.
