Hesse: Suspected serial burglars caught: Eleven arrests

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Hessian investigators caught a group of suspected serial burglars on Wednesday. Police officers arrested eleven suspects between the ages of 18 and 33 during house searches in Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia. Six of them were taken into custody, as the police and the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt announced.

The gang is said to be responsible for at least 19 home and business burglaries in and around Frankfurt and planned three robberies. In addition, the suspects are believed to be connected to a series of burglaries in corona test centers that have been ongoing since the beginning of the year. Among other things, the investigators secured stun guns, fake vaccination cards and several tens of thousands of euros in cash. Special units were also involved in the searches. The officials said they had been tracking the group for months.
