Hesse: Tarek Al-Wazir welcomes agreement on the 49-euro ticket

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The Hessian Economics and Transport Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens) has welcomed the agreement between the federal states and the federal government on the planned 49-euro ticket. Hesse is ready to compensate for the loss of income and to bear half of the costs for the introduction, Al-Wazir said in Wiesbaden on Friday. If this is not enough, the country will increase the funds. "It's good that the federal government is now ready to do this," said the minister.

In addition to the more than one billion euros that the three transport associations in Hesse will receive, Hessen is initially planning 120 million euros for the Germany ticket for 2023. Discussions are now being held with the transport associations about the specific introduction. Al-Wazir explained that the ticket would give the traffic turnaround a powerful boost.

The Berlin coalition and the federal states had agreed on the financing the previous evening after lengthy negotiations. The nationwide usable ticket for buses and trains in local transport is to come with an introductory price of 49 euros per month and tie in with the 9-euro ticket from the summer. A digitally bookable, monthly terminable subscription is planned. Many details are still to be clarified. The countries are aiming for an introduction by April 1st.
