Hesse: The Hessian Radio Big Band is planning over 50 concerts

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) Big Band has planned over 50 concerts for the new season. The broadcaster announced on Tuesday that performances that were canceled due to corona would also be made up, for example with the Tunisian jazz musician Dhafer Youssef and the Australian bassist Linda May Han Oh. The HR Big Band will start the 2022/23 season on August 25th at the Europa Open Air in Frankfurt, together with the young Polish jazz musician Kinga Glyk. "We are not only looking forward to promising programs and artists from all over the world, but also to being able to meet our audience again," said the orchestra manager Olaf Stötzler.

The ensemble will also appear at the opening festival in the Kronberg Casals Forum and will bring "West Side Story" to the stage of the Alte Oper Frankfurt. At the new "Mainly Mozart Festival", also in Frankfurt, the band deals with the classical tones of the composer.

The HR Big Band will also appear twice at the German Jazz Festival in Frankfurt in October. She will play the opening night together with the pianist Julia Hülsmann. In addition, before the Christmas program for the adult audience, a Swinging Christmas program for the children will be staged for the first time.
