Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - In July 2022, the Hessian main construction trade recorded a slump in incoming orders. Compared to July 2021, the number fell by more than a quarter (26.8 percent) to around 439 million euros, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden on Monday. In the same period, the number of employees fell by almost 3 percent to 35,181, and 8.7 percent fewer hours were worked.
"The weakness of the construction industry in Hesse is unmistakable," said the general manager of the Hesse-Thuringia construction industry association, Burkhard Siebert. There is great potential in demand for construction. "Whether in residential construction or in the infrastructure. The mobility and energy transition must be built," explained Siebert. The public sector must now implement its high investment plans, otherwise the construction industry will stall.
