Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - After more than five months of negotiations, the process of robbing a kiosk in Frankfurt is nearing completion. The public prosecutor's office called for five years and ten months in prison for attempted manslaughter for the 31-year-old alleged main perpetrator before the Frankfurt Regional Court on Tuesday. He is said to have fired six shots in Ostend on the night of the crime in January 2021.
Four other defendants are to be sentenced to lower sentences for aiding and abetting, and another accused is to be acquitted. The 24-year-old could not be identified as the second shooter in the process.
The jury chamber wants to announce the verdict this Wednesday (December 30). Before that, the accused have the opportunity to make closing statements.
The background to the dispute is said to have been quarrels in the criminal milieu. One group is said to have broken up an illegal poker round for the other. On the night of the crime, according to the indictment, the attackers moved in a column of 8 vehicles with 30 participants to the opposing group's kiosk, which barricaded itself in the bar. A total of eleven shots were fired from the ranks of the attackers, which injured no one.
A large number of police finally broke up the crowd. In court, five defendants confessed, another remained silent. In the meantime, the continuation of the proceedings had been jeopardized because one of the defense lawyers was arrested on suspicion of drug dealing and was taken into custody.
