Hesse: Trade in valuable glass eels: 50-year-old accused

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - As of today, a 50-year-old man from the Main-Taunus district has to answer to the Frankfurt district court for supporting the trade in protected glass eels. The prosecution alleges that he made the basement of his house available to professional eel traders. Glass eels are considered a delicacy in Asia and are traded at between 3,000 and 6,000 euros per kilo. In Germany, the fish fall under the Nature Conservation Act. The court initially scheduled only one day of hearing.
