Frankfurt am Main (dpa / lhe) - Two people were hit by a train in the Frankfurt district of Sachsenhausen and fatally injured. The 25-year-old woman and the 45-year-old man entered the track bed near the Eintracht Frankfurt football stadium late on Friday evening for reasons that have not yet been clarified, the police said. Despite an emergency braking initiated by the train driver, both were caught by the moving train.
Emergency chaplains looked after the witnesses to the accident on site. The approximately 300 passengers in the special train towards Marburg were only able to leave the train at a later point in time. Other visitors to the Böhse Onkelz band's previous concert in the stadium also took longer to get home: Due to extensive blocking measures, there were restrictions on rail and road traffic until around 2 a.m.
