Hesse: truck on fire: high property damage on the A7

Burghaun (dpa/lhe) - A fire in a trailer truck on Autobahn 7 in the Fulda district caused property damage of around 300,000 euros. The 26-year-old driver noticed slight smoke in the driver's cab on Tuesday evening and then parked the truck in an acceleration lane near a parking lot, the police said. He was able to get out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames and was unharmed. The fire spread to an adjacent embankment, but was eventually extinguished by the emergency services. There was hardly any impact on traffic. The car park on the A7 has now been closed.
