Hesse: Up to seven years in prison for members of a gang of burglars

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - A gang of burglars was sentenced to prison terms of between four and seven years in Frankfurt on Tuesday. The four men had committed the burglaries in 2021, mainly in the Rhine-Main area. They stole jewelry, cash and coins worth around 244,000 euros from houses and apartments. After the last act, they were arrested in Hanover.

The regional court sentenced the 30-year-old main perpetrator to seven years in prison. According to the court, he participated in four of the nine alleged crimes. The other three men - aged between 29 and 31 - were sentenced to at least three years and nine months in prison. They had been directly involved in fewer burglaries, but were seen by the court as accomplices.

The process has been running since the end of August. The accused did not comment on the allegations, but could be convicted based on DNA traces at the crime scenes and parts of the loot. While the public prosecutor's office had applied for the prison sentences imposed at the end, the defense attorneys were demanding acquittals. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
