Baunatal/Kassel (dpa/lhe) - A works meeting for all employees of the Volkswagen plant in Kassel will take place in Baunatal this Tuesday. The works council will provide information about the content at a press conference in the afternoon (1.30 p.m.). Among other things, it will deal with the conversion of production for electromobility and the employment situation. With around 15,300 employees, Kassel is the world's largest component plant of the Volkswagen Group.

The location is to be expanded to become a key supplier for the Wolfsburg car manufacturer's electric vehicles. According to the company, the group will invest around 1.2 billion euros by 2026. More than two-thirds of this relates to the development and manufacture of e-components. Among other things, electric drives for the models of the MEB platform of the Volkswagen Group for Europe and North America are already being produced in Baunatal. According to VW, almost 5,000 people are currently employed in e-mobility.
