Hesse: Wehen Wiesbaden loses outnumbered against Aue

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - SV Wehen Wiesbaden suffered a severe setback in the promotion battle of the 3rd football league. The Hessians conceded their first defeat in eight games on Friday evening in the 1: 2 (0: 1) against FC Erzgebirge Aue, but remain second in the table with 44 points at least overnight. Marco Schikora in the 33rd minute and Antonio Jonjic (65th) scored the goals for the Saxons. Florian Carstens (74th) only scored the goal for the hosts, who were decimated early on after a red card against Ahmet Gürleyen (13th).

Gürleyen had brought Auer Omar Sijaric down in a running duel and was sent off by referee Wolfgang Haslberger because of the emergency brake. This forced SVWW coach Markus Kauczinski to act early: Defender Max Reinthaler came in for offensive player Kianz Froese. Nevertheless, the Hessians had good opportunities that they could not use. Aue proved to be much more efficient and, with a bit of luck, survived the stormy final phase of the home side.
