Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Since this summer, Wiesbaden cemeteries have been testing which plants can cope well with the consequences of climate change. In the pilot project, the city administration is working together with cemetery gardeners and students from the Geisenheim University in the Rheingau. Among other things, the rows on the test fields are watered with different amounts of water, as the cemetery gardeners Matthew Lynch and Stefan Grob explain. In addition to blooming flowers, perennials and ground cover grow in the 72 small wooden beds per field. In addition, it will be tested how the plants thrive in environmentally friendly, peat-free soil.
