Hesse: Woman injured with a knife: Man flees on an island in the river

Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - In an apartment in Darmstadt-Eberstadt, a man injured a woman's fingers with a knife on Sunday morning. After an extensive search, the police were able to arrest the fugitive 28-year-old a few hours later on an island in the Modau, to which he had waded, the officials said. A police helicopter was also used. The acquaintance of the injured 46-year-old had previously thrown stones at emergency services, among other things, before fleeing over the balcony of the apartment and riding away on a bicycle. According to the information, he damaged a window pane of the house and the window of a radio car. The woman had initially called the police because her acquaintance did not want to leave the apartment after a dispute. The police are currently investigating the background to the crime.
