Hesse: World War II bomb successfully defused in Frankfurt

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - A 50-kilogram World War II bomb has been defused in Frankfurt. The fire brigade and police said that residents in the Fechenheim district had been evacuated since late Tuesday evening. Since the area is an industrial area, only a low double-digit number of residents were affected. Due to the design and condition of the bomb, the security authorities should have reacted quickly, it said. The American-made bomb was found during construction work. The residents could have returned to their homes before one o'clock in the morning.
