Michelstadt (dpa / lhe) - young people threw eggs at several house facades in the old town of Michelstadt (Odenwaldkreis) - including the synagogue. According to initial investigations, the 15 to 19-year-olds took at least one cardboard box filled with eggs from a self-service stand and then threw adjoining buildings, the police said on Sunday evening. The facade of the synagogue of the Jewish community was also damaged in the incident on Saturday evening.

Because of a witness reference, the alleged perpetrators could be identified quickly, as it was said. Among other things, they have to answer for damage to property - and pay for the damage incurred in the lower three-digit range as well as the cleaning costs. A xenophobic background is ruled out according to the current status of the investigation, it said.
