Hessen: 80-year-old cyclist hit and killed by a truck

Gießen (dpa / lhe) - An 80-year-old cyclist was hit by a truck in Gießen and died. The 56-year-old driver of the semi-trailer wanted to turn right at a traffic light on Saturday, the police said. He overlooked the cyclist who wanted to go straight. The 80-year-old man died at the scene of the accident. Because of a larger crowd of onlookers, the fire brigade had to shield the scene of the accident with tarpaulins.
