Bensheim (dpa / lhe) - Two people were injured in an accident involving five vehicles on Autobahn 5 in southern Hesse. A 29-year-old had left the road with her car, hit the guardrail and stayed on the highway, the police said early Thursday morning. Four other cars were then unable to brake in time and drove into the scene of the accident. The woman suffered serious injuries in the accident around midnight. A 73-year-old man was slightly injured from the following cars. Paramedics took her to hospitals.
The freeway was closed northbound for about two hours after the accident. It was initially unclear why the person who caused the accident lost control of her car.
