Dreieich (dpa/lhe) - A 19-year-old attacked and injured two firefighters in Dreieich in the Offenbach district on New Year's Eve. As city fire inspector Markus Tillmann announced, the man suddenly jumped in front of a fire truck and forced the driver to brake hard. When the firefighter rolled down the window pane, the 19-year-old sprayed tear gas into the emergency vehicle from a group of six. The driver was injured in the process.
The 19-year-old then attacked and injured another firefighter with tear gas, as Tillmann announced. Both forces were treated as outpatients in a hospital. According to the police, the attacker is being investigated on suspicion of causing dangerous bodily harm. The fire engine was said to be on its way back from an operation to the station when the attack happened.
