Hanau (dpa / lhe) - In the trial before the Hanau district court against two suspected drug dealers, the verdict is expected this Monday (9:00 a.m.). The two men, aged 39 and 32, are said to have illegally traded ten kilograms of cocaine and 145 kilograms of marijuana in the Main-Kinzig district. They are said to have smuggled part of the drug, which has a black market value of around 800,000 euros, into Germany. In the process, which has been running since April, both defendants had made confessions.
The duo was arrested in June 2021 during a global raid. The State Criminal Police Office, the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor's Office and customs in Wächtersbach and Birstein (Main-Kinzig-Kreis) seized seven luxury cars, jewellery, cash and watches with a total value of around half a million euros. During the international police action called "Operation Trojan Shield", investigators used data from the allegedly encrypted "Anom" chats from crypto cell phones to track down suspects. Both defendants have been in custody since then.
The case against a 54-year-old from the Gießen district who was also accused of smuggling 45 kilograms of marijuana in his truck from southern Spain to Germany has already been separated by the regional court after his confession. The courier was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, which was suspended.
