Hessen: Wehen Wiesbaden committed goalkeeper Amsif

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - SV Wehen Wiesbaden has reacted to the long-term absence of its injured goalkeeper Florian Stritzel and signed Mohamed Amsif. The 33-year-old received a contract with third-placed football league until the end of the season, as announced by the Hessians on Monday. "He is an absolute professional who has already gained experience at the highest level," said Wiesbaden's sporting director Paul Fernie about the new signing.

Amsif, who trained as a junior at FC Schalke 04 and played for FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga and 1. FC Union Berlin in the 2nd Bundesliga, was most recently under contract with the Moroccan first division club FUS Rabat. The goalkeeper completed eight international matches for Morocco. "The return to German professional football feels a little like signing my first professional contract back then," said Amsif.

In the Hessians he should stimulate the competition in goal, as Stritzel will be out for several months due to a shoulder joint rupture. "It was important for us to react to this failure," said Fernie.
