Holding hands with Albert: riddles about Charlène's ray appearance

Maybe she just can't please anyone. After all, Charlène from Monaco is now showing up again at public events after her months-long break, such as at the Formula 1 race at the weekend. The fact that she seems relatively relaxed there fuels speculation again.

Charlène von Monaco had disappeared from the scene for what felt like an eternity. First she was stuck in South Africa for months because of alleged complications after an ear, nose and throat infection. Then she recovered from what was said to be emotional and physical exhaustion for almost half a year in a Swiss clinic.

Since the beginning of May, the princess is supposed to be back in her adopted country. Her return to the public took place around four weeks ago as part of the Formula E World Championship in Monaco. The 44-year-old couldn't be absent from the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the weekend in Monte Carlo. Despite all the rumors of a crisis surrounding her marriage to Prince Albert II, she even showed herself to be holding hands at her husband's side.

During her performances during the Formula 1 weekend, Charlène seemed unusually relaxed to her. Along with her husband, she met several racers. Photos show the two in conversation with Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel. Charlène and Albert also had their picture taken with actor Patrick Dempsey, who had traveled to the event.

Charlène also staged her children against the backdrop of the Formula 1 event. So she shared a photo of the twins Jacques and Gabriella on Instagram, showing the two seven-year-olds on a sofa. The girl is sitting on the edge in a floral dress, holding small binoculars in her hands. Her brother meanwhile seems to be busy with a pair of headphones. "Focused on winning! On a great Grand Prix," Charlène wrote.

So is everything all right again in the Monegasque princely family? Some observers have their doubts. Rumors are circulating that Charlène is said to have negotiated a tough deal with the palace. As the French magazine "Voici" recently reported, the princess is relocating to Geneva, where she is to be supported by the principality with twelve million euros a year. In return, she has promised to regularly take part in public representation appointments.

So, is Monaco just a mere appearance or is it all just bad rumours? There's no question: Eyes will be fixed on Charlène at future appointments as well.
