Testosterone stands for masculinity, strength and muscles. It is produced by the cells of the testicles. It controls emotions, sexuality and metabolism. Beginning between the ages of 30 and 40, the level of the hormone drops by one to two percent annually. But there can be no question of Ebbe: "Even if one used to speak of andropause based on the menopause - healthy men are usually not lacking in testosterone even in old age," says Armin Soave, senior physician in urology at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf.
