Today, Monday March 13, the Catholic Church honors San Rodrigo.

San Rodrigo was a priest from Córdoba who suffered martyrdom during the Muslim invasion. They were the times of the reign of Mohamed I, son of Abderramán II, in the emirate of Córdoba.

A brother of his, a Muslim, seriously attacked him and paraded him around the city to demonstrate his faith and fanaticism towards Muhammad. He was beheaded in the year 857 for not wanting to renounce his faith.

He is the patron saint of the town of Cabra (Córdoba).
