The 34-year-old used the forthcoming broadcast of a personality documentary on her own behalf and confirmed the end of the relationship. "I've been thinking for a long time about when and if I should say something publicly about the breakup. Now it feels right and the time has come," she said of the "Cathy Hummels – Everything at the Beginning" project. The documentary can be seen on November 16 at 8:15 p.m. on RTLzwei.
The presenter and bestselling author Cathy Hummels from Munich was accompanied by a camera team for several months for the film. There were first reports of the couple's separation many months ago. However, both celebrities had kept a low profile for a long time. In July, Cathy Hummels then hinted in the "Bunte": "I loved my husband very much and always wanted to take care of everything perfectly, but that didn't go on like this." She hadn't mentioned the word separation, however.
Mats Hummels and Cathy Fischer got married in June 2015. Their son was born two and a half years later. The 33-year-old is currently under contract with Borussia Dortmund. It is unclear whether the 2014 world champion will also be in the DFB squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. He played his last international match to date in June 2021 in the 2-0 defeat by England in the round of 16 of the European Championship.
