FC Carl Zeiss Jena wants to investigate reports of incidents after the game against VfL Wolfsburg (0-1). This was announced by a spokesman.
After the Bundesliga club's happy victory in Jena in the first round of the DFB Cup, there was a scuffle and discussions. On the way from the locker room to the team bus, VfL pros Jakub Kaminski (20), Kevin Paredes (19) and substitute keeper Pavao Pervan (34) clashed with Jena supporters. This can be seen on a video at BILD.
There are no law enforcement officers to be seen intervening. Even in the catacombs, employees and not the security forces had to accompany the Wolfsburg professionals to the VIP room of the regional league club because some fans could not restrain themselves.
After Omar Marmoush's late winning goal (90.2), wild scenes had already erupted in the stadium, the traditional Ernst Abbe sports field. Jena and Wolfsburg supporters attacked each other, after the end of the game the situation escalated.
Due to renovations (only two of the four grandstands can be used), the guest block is in the main grandstand, there is only a small buffer between home and away fans.
The spectator capacity was reduced to 6100 spectators for the first round match in the DFB Cup. Around 600 fans came from Wolfsburg.
The security service did not intervene here either, it apparently even withdrew. Again, it was employees of the association who intervened. The Wolfsburg players Maximilian Arnold (28) and Lukas Nmecha (23) also had a calming effect on the situation.
Wolfsburg coach Nico Kovac expressed his surprise at the press conference after the game on Saturday evening. "I'm hearing this for the first time, can't say anything because I haven't seen it personally," said Kovac.
He added: "Obviously if that were the case then that's not what we as football buffs, football fans or football fanatics would like to see. And those who are responsible for this will certainly be sanctioned accordingly.”
