The president of the PP in Ourense and of the Diputación, Manuel Baltar, was detected at 173 kilometers per hour on the A-52 on April 23, Sunday, during the same trip in which he was sanctioned for driving at 215 kilometers per hour , within a highway where the maximum limit is 120 km/h.
The Civil Guard of Ourense has confirmed this Monday the information advanced by the Ser chain.
Baltar's official car was detected at 173 km/h by a velolaser at 5:44 p.m. at kilometer 210, near Allariz (Ourense); and at 6:38 p.m., less than an hour later, he was stopped for driving at 215.
At the time, when only this last offense was known, Baltar explained in a letter signed by him that what happened was due to an "oversight".
Baltar is now pending trial for the offense committed against 215. In that hearing that will be held in the criminal court of Zamora and which is set for May 31, after the municipal elections, he must answer for the alleged commission of a crime against road safety. The Prosecutor's Office requested the withdrawal of his driving license.
His legal representative has resorted to understanding that, once the administrative penalty has been paid, something he did do, there is no room for a trial.
However, by exceeding the maximum speed allowed by more than 80 kilometers per hour, once the margin of error of the cinemometer was established, speeding was considered a crime against road safety and the proceedings were sent to the court.
At the time they stopped the official vehicle driven by Baltar himself to identify its driver, the agents who carried out the speed control did not have the certification of the speed meter's margin of error, so they initially put him for speeding a fine of 600 euros, which with the prompt payment were 300, and six points of deduction from the license.
