The Republic of Ireland will increase the back-to school clothing allowance by EUR100 (PS86 per child) starting in August. This is in addition to plans to expand the school meals program.

Varadkar informed the Dail that the Budget 2023 has been pushed back to September and will include measures that will be in effect in the next few weeks. However, the budget alone will not address inflation. Varadkar stated that there should be a global response, including international organizations such as the European Central Bank. He also said that there must be a reduction of costs like childcare, which he believes is out of line in Ireland when compared to other EU countries.
