With the portrayal of the villain Michael Myers, he shaped the legendary "Halloween" horror series. Now George P. Wilbur has died at the age of 81. Companions bid farewell to the US actor, who took part in over 100 productions.

Mourning for George P. Wilbur: The US actor and stuntman, known for his portrayal of Michael Myers in several "Halloween" films, has died. He was 81 years old. Christopher Durand, also a stuntman in the "Halloween" franchise, announced his death on Facebook on Thursday. "George P. Wilbur passed away last night. George, you were absolutely amazing and loved so much. We will miss you very much."

George P. Wilbur began his film career in 1966 with an extra role in "El Dorado". In "Halloween IV - Michael Myers Returns" and "Halloween VI - The Curse of Michael Myers" he embodied the famous antagonist. In "Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers" he was seen as a stuntman for the actor Don Shanks.

He has been involved in more than 100 television and film projects, including Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Mission: Impossible and Ghostbusters II. He ended his career in the mid-1990s, returning in 2012 and 2014 for smaller roles in front of the camera.

Several colleagues mourn the actor and stuntman on social media. Commenting on Durand's Facebook post, Halloween screenwriter Daniel Farrands said: "Very sad to hear of George's passing. He was such a kind soul and a valued member of the Halloween family." Actor Spencer Charnas tweeted, "RIP one of my favorite Michael Myers actors of all time, George P. Wilbur."
