Lamar Jackson has a message for the social media world (or at the Ravens): "I Need $"

The Ravens are ready to pay Lamar Jackson a lot of money. He has not been willing to accept it until recently. He now seems to have a sense of urgency.

Jackson's Instagram and Twitter pages both have this photo: "I need $."

Jackson might not be able to appreciate the attention this gesture will bring, but what can he expect? Jackson seems now ready to get the Brink's truck returned to him after months of refusing to reach into Steve Bisciotti’s vault.

He is clearly deserving of a second contract. It is up to you to choose the right structure and dollars. Deshaun Watson, quarterback of the Browns, was fully guaranteed $230 million over five-years. Jackson, the 2019 NFL MVP, should expect the same deal, if not better.

Given the possibility of him getting tired from the physical demands of playing this position, the Ravens don't want to guarantee the next five years at $46 millions annually. This is one of the greatest drawbacks to long-term, fully guaranteed contracts. The team will need someone to replace the player if the player is unable to earn the money. The team doesn't have as much cap space to reward other players, due to the resources that are given to those who are too hurt to play or who are no longer available to the team.

Jackson is ready to make a deal. Hiring a competent agent is the best way to accomplish this. If Jackson isn't willing to pay one, two, or three percent of the total amount for a good agent to help him negotiate it, the Ravens could offer to increase the contract value.
