Lawsuit against Fat Comedy: Pocher demands "astronomical" sum after slap

With a slap in the face against comedian Oliver Pocher, the comedian Fat Comedy first put himself in the limelight, and a few months later he was in the dock. In the case of the claim for damages that has now been received, the attacker's lawyers initially believe it was a typo.

After the slap against Oliver Pocher, the comedian sued his attacker Fat Comedy under civil law. According to a report in the "Bild" newspaper, Pocher is demanding damages of 100,000 euros. From a legal point of view, it is compensation for the pain suffered and the persistent exploitation and degradation of his person, Pocher's lawyer told the newspaper.

At the end of March, Pocher had attended a boxing match in Dortmund when the 22-year-old Fat Comedy – whom he said he had never seen or spoken to before – hit him in the face without warning. Apparently, the action was planned, because it was also filmed by a friend of the hitherto relatively unknown comedian. The video circulated online.

The defendant's lawyers initially thought the claim for compensation was a typo. "We are still speechless that this sum should be taken seriously. Even Will Smith would probably not have to reckon with such an amount for his slap in the face given the astronomical dimensions in the USA," said the 22-year-old's lawyer of the "Bild" - Newspaper. In Germany, for a slap in the face without serious consequences in civil courts, there are usually 250 and 500 euros in damages. According to his lawyer, Fat Comedy is willing to voluntarily pay 1000 euros to Oliver Pocher because he now very much regrets the slap in the face.

Pocher had to go to the doctor several times due to the attack and could no longer hear certain frequency ranges. In a video on Instagram, he presented his view of things: "We're not talking about some funny slap in the face, we're talking about a felony." Violence is never a solution, according to Pocher. Shortly after the severe slap that literally knocked Pocher off his chair, Fat Comedy actually apologized with the sentence that violence was not a solution.
