Long prison sentence for 20-year-old man who kidnapped Lady Gaga's dogs

In early 2021, criminals kidnapped two of Lady Gaga's three dogs and shot their sitter. The bulldogs reappear a little later, safe and sound, and the perpetrators are also caught. One of them is now behind bars for 21 years.

After an armed robbery in which US pop star Lady Gaga's dog sitter was shot, one of the perpetrators has to go to prison for a long time. The 20-year-old was sentenced to 21 years in prison, US media reported on Monday. The man committed a "cold-hearted, violent act," the Los Angeles Times quoted as saying from a statement from the Los Angeles public prosecutor's office. According to authorities, the perpetrator pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

The nightly mugging made headlines in February 2021. "Dogwalker" Ryan Fischer was walking the singer's three French bulldogs in Hollywood when men jumped out of a car and at gunpoint demanded the animals be handed over.

The dog sitter fought back and was seriously injured by a gunshot. A surveillance camera recorded the attack. The screams of the injured man can also be heard in the video. While he was bleeding on the ground, the thieves escaped with two animals.

The robbery happened during Lady Gaga's visit to Italy while she was filming. The singer and actress immediately offered a $500,000 reward to get their dogs back. The two bulldogs were actually handed over to a police station two days later.

According to the authorities, it was a coincidence that the 36-year-old's pets were hit. Accordingly, investigators assume that Jackson and his accomplices did not know that the French bulldogs belonged to her. The criminals are said to have only been concerned with the breed, which can bring in several thousand dollars.

The incident led to several arrests, some procedures are still pending. In August, two men were sentenced to four and six years in prison, respectively, for taking part in the robbery.
