Love comeback excluded: Glööckler's husband did not want the separation

After 35 years, Harald Glööckler breaks up with Dieter Schroth. The final separation reached him by post and was quite a surprise, says the estranged husband. The subject of love is now settled for him.

So far, only Harald Glööckler has publicly commented on the love-off with his husband Dieter Schroth. But now the abandoned Schroth also breaks his silence. The separation had been in the air for a long time, the men's outfitter told the "Bild" newspaper. "When Harald went into the jungle and talked about our relationship, something started that surprised me too," says Schroth.

The 74-year-old suspects that his estranged husband had his own ideas about how his life should go on. "Harald wants to change. Even more than he has already done. It's probably easier without me." Glööckler had previously told the "Bild-Zeitung" that his relationship was only a "shared apartment", that the 57-year-old no longer wanted to live like that and therefore filed for divorce. The two had previously been in a relationship for 35 years, and they have been living separately for about a year.

Schroth admits: "When the letter from the lawyer was in the mail, the final separation came as a surprise to me." Actually, you wanted to think a little more, but he accepted Glööckler's decision. "I didn't want the separation, I'm still old-fashioned: 'Till death do you part...'" He thought that when he got his first divorce, and it wasn't his intention either.

He will no longer enter into a new partnership - "God forbid!" For him, this topic is finally over: "You only get to know a true love like that between Harald and me once in life, at most twice." He himself was able to experience it only once: "With Harald." He can rule out a love comeback, as a couple there is no way back. The happy ending was that the friendship remained: "We can still talk about everything. Thank God we haven't lost each other."
