Man dies after Leaping from Staten Island Ferry

NYPD Harbor launching officials pulled the guy from the water after reacting to reports of a jumper near the Whitehall Ferry Terminal in Manhattan

A 53-year-old guy died Saturday after leaping from the Staten Island Ferry to the cold waters of New York Harbor, authorities said.

NYPD Harbor launching officials pulled the guy from the water after reacting to reports of a jumper near the Whitehall Ferry Terminal in Manhattan at about two p.m.

He jumped off the Ferryboat Andrew J. Barberi, authorities said.

The unidentified victim was eliminated to Pier 11 and hauled to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was declared dead soon after 3:10 p.m.

A newsstand employee said that there were"about 50 approximately emergency individuals" in Pier 11 after a valiant campaign -- that contained CPR -- to rescue the guy's lifestyle.
