The search for a 43-year-old vacationer from Jena was canceled early on Friday evening on the Darß peninsula (West Pomerania-Rügen). As the responsible police headquarters in Neubrandenburg announced, the man had been reported missing in the morning. According to his travel companion, he left Ahrenshoop the night before to go fishing on the Bodden side of Born, but then did not return. Police officers found the missing person's car in Born, but not the man, it said. A large-scale search was then started, in which a police helicopter, the water police, local fire brigades, divers from the DLRG and sniffer dogs were also involved. The search operation was interrupted and is expected to resume on Saturday, said a police spokesman.
