In Mühlengeez near Güstrow, everything revolves around animals, agricultural machinery and food. The 31st agricultural fair MeLa opens its doors with 800 exhibitors and many animals.

With more than 60,000 guests, the agricultural and animal show with lots of tips for gardeners and craftsmen was the most visited trade fair in the north-east in the past. The official opening is to be made on Thursday morning by Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) and Environment and Agriculture Minister Till Backhaus (SPD).
According to the state, the agriculture and food industry is one of the most important sectors in the northeast with more than 50,000 employees.
