Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Conference: Maritime industry is looking for new fields of activity

Roggentin (dpa/mv) - After the insolvency of the MV Werften Group, the maritime supply industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania wants to discuss future fields of activity on Tuesday (10:00 a.m.) in Roggetin near Rostock. Around 100 regional medium-sized suppliers and equipment companies with a total of around 5000 employees work in the industry. The Maritime Suppliers Alliance (RIC-MAZA), with 50 member companies, sees good opportunities in helping to shape the realignment of shipbuilding in the context of energy and environmental policy change.

The maritime industry can contribute to new propulsion technologies with innovative solutions and shipbuilding plant systems in order to reduce harmful ship emissions. There is also an increasing demand for new ships for the German Navy and for capacity for repairs and services for the current fleet. In addition, there is the expansion of offshore wind energy, the production of hydrogen and plant and equipment systems for the transition to "green shipping".
