Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Extensive renovation work in the state's largest park

Ludwigslust (dpa / mv) - Extensive renovation work is beginning in the Ludwigslust Palace Park. The state as the owner wants to invest 3.5 million euros in the renewal of the watercourses this year and next. For this purpose, trees that have fallen in the park during storms in recent years are sawn into boards on site and installed in the canals as bank reinforcement, as the state building and real estate office announced.

In addition, a historical path to the "14 Alleen", a rare baroque hunting star, is to be redesigned. A hunting star consists of aisles that diverge in a star shape. During a hunt, the game could be better driven in front of the guns of the lordly hunters.

The building management wants to announce details of the work on Tuesday (2:30 p.m.) at a press conference in the park. Ludwigslust Palace Park is around 120 hectares in size, making it the largest park in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In addition to landscaped areas near the castle, there are also extensive forests in the rear part of the park.
